14C28N & 12C27N - Swedish Steel

Sweden's premier steel to use when it comes to making knives is most likely regarded as 12C27 - a high end steel manufactured by Sandvik steels.

Following on from 12C27N, Sandvik brewed another steel with a slightly higher carbon and chromium and a splash of nitrogen known as the 14C28N. This, when forged at a very high heat can create a very heat can have a HRC as high 62. 

A very nice balance of a hard edge with low corrosive finish.

Like anything Swedish, this is a minimized, simplistic yet classy steel with the following composition:

Elements 12C27
C 0.60%
Si 0.40%
Mn 0.40%
Ni -
Cr 13.50%
P 0.03%
S 0.01%
V
Co -
others
